Bertelsmann Foundation annual conference

"Opportunities in Crisis 2: Defining New Avenues of Growth"

This conference, hosted by the Bertelsmann Foundation in cooperation with the Financial Times, again brings together high-level government officials, corporate executives, and leading thinkers from the United States, Europe and beyond. The event will put a special focus on stimulating our economies, the role of education, financial-sector reform, and global governance as ways to promote economic growth in the wake of the financial crisis. A special closing panel co-hosted by the Council of Women World Leaders on April 22, 2010, 4:00pm-5:00pm, will provide an opportunity for some of the world's most influential women to give their unique perspectives on the financial crisis.

The conference will take place at the Newseum in Washington, DC, on Thursday, April 22, 2010, just prior to the World Bank and International Monetary Fund's Spring Meetings. It will be preceded by a reception at the National Portrait Gallery on Wednesday evening, April 21, 2010.

The Bertelsmann Foundation is the only 501(c)(3)non-partisan, pan-European think tank in Washington, DC. As a private, operational foundation, the organization funds its own programs, which focus on trans-Atlantic economic and financial issues, foreign and security policy, education, healthcare and demographics.

The Council of Women World Leaders, a policy program of the Aspen Institute, is a network of current and former women presidents and prime ministers. The Council's mission is to mobilize the highest-level women leaders globally for collective action on issues of critical importance to women.
