NATO’s European Dimension

Keynote speech by

NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen
21 June 2010, Concert Noble, Brussels

Brussels, 26 April 2010

We are pleased to announce that NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen will be giving the keynote speech at the SDA's annual NATO Conference on 21 June at the Concert Noble in Brussels.
The theme of the conference, ‘NATO’s European Dimension’, reflects the questions facing the Alliance in the context of the release of the new Strategic Concept and the rethink of European foreign policy tools.

Will the new Strategic Concept succeed in bringing NATO firmly into the 21st century, and how far will it reflect differences in European and American interests? Will transatlantic defence procurement continue to be the thorn in the side of cooperation? And, with so much at stake for NATO in Afghanistan, what constitutes a successful exit strategy? How is public opinion likely to affect governments’ decisions on troop withdrawal?
Participants will be able to pitch questions during the Q&A with Secretary General Rasmussen as well as getting to grips on key issues with panels of top-level representatives from NATO, the EU, national governments, industry, think-tanks and academia, and the media.
