The Women's Foreign Policy Group (Washington, DC and New York, NY)

In 2018, WIIS and the Women’s Foreign Policy Group (WFPG) partnered on key professional development and mentoring activities.

WFPG promotes and supports women’s leadership by highlighting and providing greater visibility for women leaders in foreign policy, amplifying their voices, and raising up role models for the next generation. Find more about the Women’s Foreign Policy Group on their website.

The Embassy of Liechtenstein (Washington, DC)

Since 2016, the Embassy of Liechtenstein and WIIS have partnered on a series of roundtables and policy briefs on the gender dimensions of key international security challenges. For more information on this partnership, see publications and programs.

The Embassy of Liechtenstein seeks to build an engaged partnership and sustained dialogue with the US, not only in Washington but throughout the 50 states on political, economic, cultural and academic spheres. For more information, see the Embassy of

TRENDS Research and Advisory (Abu Dhabi, UAE)

AMIn December 2017, WIIS signed a partnership agreement with Trends Research and Advisory and co-hosted an international conference on The Gender Dimensions of International Peace and Security: Keys to Prosperity and Peace in Abu Dhabi. Casimir Pulaski Foundation (Warsaw, Poland)

In November 2017, WIIS entered into a partnership with the Casimir Pulaski Foundation. At its annual Security Forum WIIS hosted a panel on Women and Preventing Violent Extremism. The 2017 Annual Security Forum also saw the launch of WIIS Poland.

U.S. Civil Society Working Group (Washington, DC)

The U.S. Civil Society Working Group on Women, Peace and Security (CSWG) is a network of experts, NGOs, and academics with years of experience working on issues involving women, war, and peace. Inspired by and building upon the international Women, Peace, and Security agenda, the CSWG informs, promotes, facilitates, and monitors the meaningful implementation of the U.S. National Action Plan on Women, Peace, and Security and the Women, Peace and Security Act adopted by the U.S. Congress in October 2017.

The CSWG was created in July 2010 to encourage and to support the U.S. Government’s efforts in the adoption of a National Action Plan (NAP) focused on Women, Peace and Security.

The U.S. Institute of Peace acts as the non-partisan, independent secretariat of the working group. Because the U.S. CSWG’s members are primarily non-governmental and academic institutions, the non-partisan nature of USIP has been vital to the group’s success and allowed for organizations from across the political spectrum to participate in the working group. WIIS functions as the fiscal agent of the Group.

Gender Champions in Nuclear Policy

Gender Champions in Nuclear Policy is a leadership network that brings
together heads of organizations working in nuclear policy who are committed
to break down gender barriers and make gender equality a working reality in
their spheres of influence. Gender Champions include Presidents, Directors,
and other institutional heads of organizations whose agendas and/or
members address nuclear nonproliferation, nuclear weapons policy, nuclear
disarmament, nuclear security, nuclear deterrence, nuclear energy, and other
related topics. We launched on November 14, 2018 in Washington, DC. The

Gender Champions in Nuclear Policy is designed to augment and complement decades of accomplishment in building networks, skills, mentorship, visibility, voice, and community among women working in the nuclear policy field by adding commitment at the leadership level of the nuclear policy sector. The engagement of male and female leaders is critical to the kinds of policy, behavioral, environmental, and cultural changes that are needed to achieve effective gender balance in the nuclear field.

This initiative is inspired by and modeled on the International Gender Champions, who represent the leaders of the United Nations and other International Organizations, Ambassadors accredited to them, and associated civil society and business groups.
